Ghosts of Americas past remind us of obstacles our forefathers (and mothers!) overcame to build a great nation. Robert Silvers uses thousands of miniature photographs applying his unique Photomosaic process, to create this moving image of the ol red, white and blue, an icon that strikes a patriotic chord in the hearts of all Americans. Tiny images of worn army generals, dignified brick buildings, wild cowboys and tobacco pipes will have you reflecting on the people and events that shaped the land of the free. This 529 piece puzzle measures 18 x 18 when complete.

Robert Silvers, a young digital artist studying at MIT, came up with the idea for Photomosaics--a process of arranging thousands of tiny photographs into one giant mosaic-style image. Buffalo Games has turned these amazing artworks into puzzles, such as this perfectly square portrait of the American flag that's made up of hundreds of small photos of famous and not-so-famous Americans, places and scenes, and images of Americana. The 529 pieces may not seem like much to a serious puzzler, but because every piece is actually part of two entirely different pictures, the methods you might normally use to identify and build areas of the puzzle won't really help you here. The bigger challenge, however, might be resisting the urge to study in detail every one of the tiny photos--or you'll never see the "bigger picture," literally! The finished puzzle measures 18 by 18 inches. --Rachel Radway
